Race Bank Wind Farm

This wind farm could generate enough electricity to power over 500,000 UK homes annually.
In December 2013, DONG Energy acquired the Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm from Centrica Plc. The Project, having already secured development consent, will be located approximately 16.8 miles off Blakeney Point on the North Norfolk coast and 17.4 miles off the Lincolnshire coast at Chapel St Leonards. The offshore array will cover an area of approximately 29 square miles.

Export cables for Race Bank will come to shore east of the mouth of the River Nene and approximately 3.7 miles north-northeast of Sutton Bridge. The cables will run in a southerly direction to the connection point at the existing Walpole substation. The approximate length of the onshore section of cable is 6.8 miles.

The project has a potential maximum capacity of up to 580MW and could also realise a potential annual carbon saving of over 830,000 tonnes of CO2.
